Kindy Newsletter Easter 2017

Kindy Newsletter - Easter 2017

On the third day after he died, rumours started to fly that Jesus was alive. Jesus was the authority’s “Most Wanted”. So when they finally strung him up, the authorities made sure Jesus was dead - good and proper!  That’s why they chose crucifixion as the way to do it – it didn’t get any more thorough than that!

So Jesus came back to life??

I am well aware, of course, that lots of people have a hard time believing that such a thing could even occur. But when you actually look into it, it really becomes the best explanation for the mysterious events that occurred in the wake of Jesus’ death. An empty tomb was discovered on the Sunday morning after Jesus had been crucified.

So what happened to the body? We know that Jesus’ body made it to the tomb. The amalgamated forces of the Jews and the Romans ensured that Jesus was well and truly dead AND buried. But on Sunday morning they had the embarrassing fact of an empty tomb, and no valid explanation for it. All of the safeguards had failed, and alternative explanations fail close scrutiny. To paraphrase Kellogg’s – “The simplest explanation in life is often the best.”

So on Easter Sunday, I will celebrate the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. In spite of the acute suffering he experienced beforehand, Jesus inherited a life that is no longer touched by suffering and death. To me, and to 100’s of millions of people around the world....that gives hope. It means that with Jesus, there is always a hope and a future, and I can’t think of anything in life that is better to have than that.
